He sat, alone, in his old dormitory, taking in a moment of silence before he had to rejoin his friends. He had in his hand a shard of Sirius’ old mirror, and beheld himself - messy hair, green eyes, glasses and scar. He did not look like someone who had died a few days ago. He set the mirror aside and shifted on the edge of the bed. He felt too big for his clothes, too old for his old bed - and yet Hogwarts was familiar, and it felt more like home than anywhere else, and so he had held onto it desperately, fearing that letting go meant he would have nothing to hold on to at all.

He did not notice Luna until she was standing next to him. She looked her usual self, almost glowing beside him, and he smiled briefly at her as a way of hello.

“I’ve never been to the Gryffindor Tower before,” Luna said airily. Harry did not respond. He did not particularly feel like conversation, but he didn’t want to say so. They sat in silence for a moment.

“I dreamt of you, you know”, Luna said conversationally, sitting down next to him on the bed. Her presence was comforting, and reminded him of a patronus; a comfort, someone who asked nothing of him but to simply be.

“When I was at Malfoy Manor I dreamt about you all the time, and then one day you were there. I don’t think I knew you would come… but I’m glad you did.” She smiled up at him, and he did not have the heart to tell her that he had landed himself in Malfoy Manor by compelete accident. But then again, he considered, Luna did not seem the type to believe that things happened by accident.

Harry turned to face her. “Luna, I-” The words moiled in his mind; all his fears and worries; who was he now? What would he do with his life? All his life had been a fight… what would he do now the fight was over? They landed on his tounge but he could not bring himself to say it, and instead he ended up looking hopelessly at her, wishing so badly for her to understand.

Luna smiled and put her hand over his. “Don’t worry, Harry”, she said, “you’ll find your way again.” It was the perfect thing to say, and if anyone could have cleared his mind, it was Luna. They sat together, hands intertwined, until the sun had begun to set and the others began calling for their names. They stood in unison and walked down the stairs, and as he watched her descend, Harry did not feel quite so alone.

He’d find his way again.
